CE![]() EMC Testing to Requirements for CE Marking (Europe)The European Union's Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2004/108/EC outlines the requirements for electrical apparatus to control interference. This revised EMC Directive has replaced 89/336/EEC. Manufacturers will have until July 20, 2009 to place on the market or put into service products that only comply with 89/336/EEC. After July 20, 2009, all products entering or sold in the EU must meet 2004/108/EC. The most significant change associated with the new EMC Directive is the elimination of a Competent Body Review for products that are family grouped, or require alternate test methods from those outlined in the Generic or Product Specific Standards. For more information on how the new EMC Directive impacts your company’s products, please contact US Tech at (770) 740-0717. Either EMC Directive allows free access to the EU by establishing 'essential requirements' for all electrical goods. “Equipment shall be so designed and manufactured, having regard to the state of the art, as to ensure that:
U.S. Technologies offers a variety of EMC compliance services including emissions and immunity testing to the following standards: Emissions:![]() Generic Standards apply if there is no product specific Standard published in the Official Journal of the European Union. EN61000-6-3: Generic Emissions: Residential, Commercial, and Light Industrial Environments EN 61000-6-4: Generic Emissions: Industrial Environments Product Specific Standards are applied as defined in the individual product standard scope. The following are examples of standards US Tech tests for product Specific Emissions: EN 55011: Industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) radio-frequency equipment EN 55013: Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment EN 55014-1: Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Emissions EN 55015: Electrical lighting and similar equipment EN 55022: Information technology equipment EN 61326: Requirement for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use EN 301 489: EMC standard for radio equipment and services (as part of the T&TTE Directive Emissions Requirements) We also test the IEC versions of the European Norms (EN) listed above. Immunity:![]() As with the Emissions Standards, the EU has Generic Immunity Standards: EN61000-6-1: Generic Immunity: Residential, Commercial, and Light Industrial Environments EN61000-6-2: Generic Immunity: Heavy Industrial Environments And Product Specific Standards. Below are just a few examples of the Product Specific Standards we test to: EN 55014-2:
We also test the IEC versions of the European Norms (EN) listed above.
